Laboratory
For your convenience, all of our jobs are processed and developed in our own Laboratories. Our experience goes back almost 35 years when my Father started the very first photography lab in the state of Baja California Sur. Nowadays, both the name and the reputation stand on their own with several “Foto Flash” labs located in La Paz, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Over the years, what began as a family tradition evolved into a line of, what we like to call, Foto Experts, offering our clients the latest technology in photo and video equipment.
Now, we are certain that we have developed the “one-stop-shop” in the area, as we process and develop our own materials. At EM Weddings, we will make your event an unforgettable one full of quality, professionalism and passion. We believe we are a truly a destination experience, glad to have you here.
Equipment
The first thing to say here is that your equipment does not make you a good photographer. You could go out and spend a fortune on equipment and still take bad photographs. Equally, a good photographer will manage to get good images from a relatively low specification kit. You must first begin by thinking of your kit as a tool. Good kits make it easier to get good shots, but you have to know how to use them… At any rate, I’m very proud of my tools.
My Photography gear:
- Canon Mark IV - Main camera
- Canon Mark III - Back up
- Canon 5D Mark II - Back up
My Videography gear:
- Sony PMW-EX1R XDCAM EX HD – Main camera
- Sony HDV-FX1 (2) - second cameras

The most important kit I have is my lens kit. I use the best lenses for wedding photography, with a wide-range of Canon L Lenses. These are the “Luxury” class of professional lenses, which are generally weather sealed, made with the sharpest optics available and are constructed with rugged magnesium alloy. To put it simply, very fine glass.
My lenses range from a 17mm wide angle to a 105mm short telephoto at a constant f/4.0, and from 70mm to 200mm at f/2.8, several of which contain image stabilizers. These lenses allow me to shoot high quality close-ups in difficult light conditions. Candid photos often require longer focal lengths.
The Canon EOS 1D Mark IV offers advanced photographic and video imaging possibilities for demanding professionals. Boasting a 16.1 megapixel APS-H sized sensor, Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors, and a completely redesigned 45-point AF system, the 1D Mark IV builds upon the success of the legendary 1D series with expanded ISO performance (up to ISO 102,400), HD video recording, and 10 frames per second continuous shooting.
The 1D Mark IV’s all new autofocus system employs 45 AF points, 39 of which are cross-type. All focus points can be selected automatically or manually and programmed for priority based on the portrait or landscape orientation of the camera. New AI Servo II AF uses advanced algorithms to track moving subjects with precision and accuracy, even under the most difficult shooting conditions. An improved 63-zone metering system analyzes the frame for optimal exposure.
True 1080p HD video can be recorded at 24 (23.976), 25, or 30 (29.97) frames per second for better compatibility with non-linear editing systems. 720p HD and 640 x 480 SD video are captured at 50 or 60 (59.94) frames per second, offering the smoothest method of recording action subjects. An integrated mono microphone records spontaneous audio with video, while a 3.5mm stereo input offers higher quality options for professional applications.
Additional features include environmentally sealed magnesium-alloy construction, integrated sensor cleaning, and a 300,000 exposure shutter rating. With all this and more, the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV represents a complete photo and video solution for professional photographers and filmmakers.
Sony’s PMW-EX1R XDCAM EX HD Camcorder is the impressive successor to the popular PMW-EX1. While retaining everything that was right about the previous camera, Sony has listened to its professional users and taken several steps forward, not only improving ergonomics and convenience, but bringing a whole new set of features to the world’s only full HD compact camcorder.
Like its predecessor, the PMW-EX1R’s core is its three 1/2″-type CMOS sensors and 14x Fujinon zoom lens. This heavyweight imaging combo captures full 1920 x 1080 hi-def images to solid state SxS PRO memory cards at multiple bit rates, resolutions and frame rates. Whether you’re shooting weddings, documentaries or feature films, there’s a frame rate and resolution for you–from 23.98p native recording, to 1fps at 1080i, to 60fps at 720p.
But along with its already proven imaging abilities and professional workflow, the PMW-EX1R expands its usability by offering DVCAM SD recording, XDCAM HD compatibility, and HDMI output. That means no more time-consuming downconverting or transcoding to work in different formats or with different recording and playback devices. Other new features add even more convenience and flexibility, including a high-resolution 1.23MP viewfinder, Cache Record, one-click S&Q button, auto iris, and even image inversion for flipping the image while shooting with a 35mm adapter. Make no mistake: the Sony PMW-EX1R is the first HD compact camcorder that truly does have it all!
